5 Reasons You Might Want A Website Redesign

We just had the opportunity to redesign the shout website. It was the first redesign we have done for sites in a few years, and we were due for an upgraded website.

Over that time, a lot of changes have happened in the field. We believed that helping our customers and showing their best sides meant we had to do the same. That is why we wanted to share some of the lessons learned with you from our recent experience.

This blog post explains the benefits of updating your website on a regular basis and how often you need to do it.

Here are five reasons why to complete a website redesign

1. Visual appeal

Over a decade ago, one of the most popular formats for designing a website was in flash. While the website looked amazing, the problem was that Google could not read the content on your site.

Therefore, it’s important to understand how having a good visual perception goes along with the rest of your website. The change requires us to keep up with the trends.

For example, on our website, we use a lot of shapes to show off the content. This movement towards shapes is a new trend in website design.

Other trends are on the rise as well. Cinemagraphs use high-quality videos and/or gifts to create a dynamic appearance on a static site.

That said, other trends like kaleidoscope gradients seem to have faded away. For the past decade, many professional businesses have shied away from the once-hot website gradient.

It made the site look a lot cheaper. However, plenty of companies want to know if gradients are coming back in style; but the trend does not seem to be long-term.

2. Responsive website

We talked in a previous article about the change to a mobile-first search engine on Google. The mobile-first index is live on the search engine. Due to this change, we had to update our strategy to ensure we include a robust mobile website for our audience.

For example, something as small as the navigation requires a new look on mobile devices.

This change in the navigation design is why we added a hamburger menu to our website. A hamburger menu consists of three lines that bunch up and expand to show your full navigation bar.

These new menus are handy on mobile response websites.

3. Web standards

Website coding advances every year. The reason why we usually update ours every three years or so is because we want to make sure we are using the best practices in coding.

For example, a trend right now is to use more CSS coding to help design websites for smartphone devices.

The trend toward CSS makes sense since the language dictates the colors, layouts, and fonts for websites. Quality CSS coding helps your site respond to both small and large screens.

4. Call to action

One of the most significant updates we made to our website was simplifying the homepage.

One sentence explains how you can turn your digital investment into a competitive advantage and then the request for proposal CTA button. That’s it!

Our previous website had a lot of great things throughout the design. However, it was very busy. There’s something to be said for simple elegance.

Having a clear call to action at the front of our website reduced the confusion for prospects.

The enhanced usability makes it easier for customers to convert.

5. SEO

Google loves fresh content. They also love it when you go back and update your current pages. It shows them you care enough about your content to change it for your customers.

Over time, if you don’t refresh your website content, Google will drop you in its search engine rankings. If you have great content, but it hasn’t changed in over five years, then you might be struggling to get better search results.

As you change the content throughout your website redesign, you could also start updating your keywords and other relevant search factors.
